As a recipient of a generous grant from The Jerome Robbins Foundation, Emery LeCrone spent three weeks in residence with The Oregon Ballet Theatre. She created a world premiere for their spring series entitled Duets. Ms. LeCrone’s choreography will be featured in a program alongside works by choreographic greats such as George Balanchine, Twyla Tharp, and Trey Macintyre. Novaballet Residency - June 22nd-August 14th, 2009 - Novaballet kicked off the 2009 season with Imperative Forms with Emery LeCrone's expanded Pulling to Break, set to Philip Glass' Violin Concerto No. 1. The first movement of this piece was developed in 2006, but this summer was extended to the full length of the Glass concerto. As Jennifer Dunning of the New York Times put it, "The ballet is already a delightful whole, exploring inventive partnering as well as the way spinning, full-throttle movement can echo and incorporate the planes of the space around it." Emery LeCrone, in her second collaboration with Novaballet, also premiered a new work in the August 2009 series Dressages.
